Core Curriculum

Grades 1-5:  40 minute class periods

Grades 6-8: 60 minute class periods for language arts and math. The other academic classes remain 40 minutes long.


Math:
Students will acquire knowledge of mathematics and the ability to apply math skills to solve problems through the use of specially selected texts. Download Diocese of Joliet Standards

Science:
Students use concrete, hands-on experiences to understand science in the physical and natural world around them. They learn through observing, predicting, questioning, and explaining. Download Diocese of Joliet Standards

Language Arts:
Emphasis on the development of skills that allow students to read with fluency, comprehend and interpret written materials, communicate well and listen and speak effectively. Download Diocese of Joliet Standards

Religion:
Students will learn about their Catholic faith through stories, activities, Scripture, prayer, discussion and reflection. Download Diocese of Joliet Standards

Social Studies:
Students will progress from learning awareness about the people and life around them to an understanding of our society, history and government. Download Diocese of Joliet Standards

Fine Arts:
Students will learn to express themselves through art and music classes.

Physical Education:
Students will learn and explore factors of a healthy lifestyle about good health habits as well as physical activities designated for their grade.
