Admissions Questions
No student shall be denied admission to St. Mary of Gostyn School on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin or gender.
Students entering Kindergarten – must be 5 years old on or before September 1.
Students entering 1st Grade – must be 6 years old on or before September 1.
At St. Mary of Gostyn School, we welcome students from all religious backgrounds.
Yes. When applying, students in grades 1 through 8 must present a copy of the last report card and a form to release information from the previous school attended. The principal will interview new students entering grades 6 to 8. All students will be accepted for a probation period if they are in good standing with the transferring school.
New Student Enrollment Fee:
Once your application for enrollment is accepted, the Enrollment Fee of $100 per student (Preschool-8th Grade) will be paid through FACTS using the link provided. This Enrollment Fee is only due if your child (children) is accepted to St. Mary of Gostyn School. All other fees (see below) will be included as part of the tuition rate, which will be paid through your chosen tuition payment plan.
Annual Reenrollment Fee:
Each spring, current school families reenroll to hold their child’s place in the school for the upcoming academic year. For Preschool through 8th Grade, this $100 Reenrollment Fee is applied to tuition. All other fees (see below) will be included as part of the tuition rate, which will be paid through your tuition payment plan.
Activity Fee:
$25 for Preschool through 8th Grade
Technology Fee:
$175 for Kindergarten through 8th Grade
Materials Fee:
$125 for Kindergarten through 8th Grade
Sacrament Fee:
$60 for 2nd Grade (First Communion) and 8th Grade (Confirmation)
Materials Fee (per student):
$175 for PreKindergarten
$100 for Preschool 4 (half-day)
$75 for Preschool 3 (half-day)
General School Questions
- Kindergarten: Collect socks and toiletries for the poor
- 1st Grade: Provide books for an inner city school
- 2nd Grade: Provide baby food for a poor family
- 3rd Grade: Provide a food basket each month for the Food Pantry
- 4th Grade: Perform 10 hours of community service
- 5th Grade: Perform 10 hours of community service
- 6th Grade: Perform 15 hours of community service
- 7th Grade: Perform 20 hours of community service
- 8th Grade: Perform 25 hours of community service (Hours fulfilled through Confirmation service projects)
Please call the main office at (630) 968-6155 if you know your child will not be attending school that day.
- For the 2023-2024 school year, the fee for bus service for families living in District 58 boundaries is $49 per student.
If you live in the District 58 boundaries and more than 1.5 miles from school, you are eligible for bus service.
- School uniforms can be purchased through Schoolbelles, Land’s End or bought at any local retailer (navy blue pants and shorts, white shirts). Girls’ jumpers and skorts are purchased through Schoolbelles or Land’s End.
- Gym uniforms can only be purchased online through Just Peachy Prints.

A healthy no-mess snack is recommended. The preschool is a nut-free environment. The kindergarten and grades 1-8 are nut-free at the discretion of the teacher. You will be informed at the beginning of the year, if your child’s classroom is a nut-free environment. This would be the case if a child with nut allergies is in the classroom.
- Parents are asked to park either in the parking lot or along the side streets surrounding the school (Douglas or Gierz). There is absolutely no parking on Prairie alongside the preschool and kindergarten rooms.
- Parents who are picking up Preschoolers or Kindergarteners are asked to go to the preschool or kindergarten doors to pick up their child.
- Students in grades 1-5 are released from the north door on Douglas.
- Students in grades 6-8 are released from the main doors on Prairie.
- The school day for Preschool (AM) ends at 10:35am
- The school day for Preschool (PM) ends at 2:15pm
- The school day for PreKindergarten (full-day) ends at 2:00pm
- The school day for Kindergarten through 8th Grade ends at 2:20pm
For grades K-8, the students are permitted to go to their classrooms at 7:30am. The school day begins when the tardy bell rings at 7:40am. Students are expected to be in their seats and ready to listen to announcements at that time.
For Preschool (AM) and PreKindergarten, the school day begins at 7:50am.
For Preschool (PM), the school day begins at 11:30am.
- For grades K-8, the students may arrive beginning at 7:15am, unless arrangements have been made for the student to meet a teacher earlier or attend a school club (i.e. Student Council, Students for Life, etc.).
- Kindergarten students are dropped off at the main entrance to the school. They will wait in the main hallway with a Kindergarten staff member and walk over to the classroom together between 7:35am-7:40am each day.
- Preschool and PreKindergarten students are to be dropped off by a parent or caregiver at their respective doors.
- Students in grades K-8 enter the school building via the main entrance.
The SMG School Office is open Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:15pm during the school year. The Office is closed on Mass days from 8:00am to 8:45am. During June and July the office has adjusted summer hours.
