Ways to Get Involved

As Downers Grove’s oldest Catholic school, we have provided a superior faith-based education for families in the western suburbs since 1897. We partner with our parents to ensure each child reaches his or her full potential and graduates with the academic skills and life tools to achieve life-long success. We believe in a strong school-home partnership and we look forward to welcoming you to our community and to many years of spiritual growth, academic success and social/emotional development for your children.

Home & School Association (HSA)

All parents and guardians of children currently attending St. Mary of Gostyn School, as well as clergy and teachers, are automatically members of our Home & School Association. HSA activities are designed to provide “extra benefits” for our students, faculty and school. The committees of the organization include but are not limited to Park Day, Room Parents, General Mills labels, Hospitality, Uniform Exchange and more.

Parent Ambassadors & Community Crew

The Parent Ambassador Program focuses on recruitment, retention and engagement of our school families. Parent Ambassadors also help to provide a smooth transition for new families and act as a resource for them throughout their first year at SMG. Parent Ambassadors who participate in Community Crew help to ignite the SMG community by organizing events and new opportunities for parents to meet, gather and reconnect.

School Advisory Board (SAB)

The School Advisory Board (SAB) provides advice and assistance to the Principal and Pastor on matters such as school policy, strategic planning, public relations, budgeting, recruiting and growing our endowment. They are a consultative board charged with among other things, approving the school calendar, tuition rates, and monitoring the operational budget. All current school families are eligible to serve on the School Advisory Board.
